A newly formed landslide dam is developing downstream, prompting the urgent relocation of rescue crews as authorities intensify monitoring and response efforts. The Ministry of Emergency Management has deployed aerial assets from the "Swift Swallow Emergency" unit, including reconnaissance drones and heavy-lift UAVs, to continuously track the evolving situation at the Purepu Qiangzang barrier lake in Gyirong County, Shigatse, Tibet.

Late on August 29, forward monitoring drones detected a fresh landslide approximately 2.8 kilometers downstream of the existing barrier lake, creating a new dam structure and indicating the formation of an additional impoundment. In response, the ministry convened an emergency expert panel for rapid assessment, while simultaneously evacuating all rescue personnel stationed near the Gyirong Port area to safer ground.
