Qingdao Port International Co., Ltd. announced that in January 2026, it successfully launched four new international container shipping routes consecutively. This expansion has increased the port's total number of foreign trade routes to nearly 240, establishing connections with over 700 ports across more than 180 countries and regions worldwide.

The robust trade momentum in Shandong Province has provided a solid foundation for this route network expansion at Qingdao Port. The newly opened routes in January include MSC's new Australia service, COSCO SHIPPING's Red Sea route, COSCO SHIPPING's Southeast Asia route, and Cheng Lie Navigation's Southeast Asia route.

Specifically, the COSCO SHIPPING Red Sea route links Qingdao Port with Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia, establishing a stable transoceanic logistics channel for bulk commodities such as energy products and construction materials. This route provides substantial support for the global expansion of China's emerging industries, including new energy vehicles and photovoltaic products, and efficiently contributes to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The inauguration of MSC's new Australia service enables direct connectivity between Northern China and key Australian hub ports like Sydney and Brisbane. It directly serves the export needs of Northern China's machinery, electronics, and chemical industries while also facilitating the import and distribution of goods from Australia.

The launch of the two Southeast Asia routes further densifies the shipping network between Qingdao Port and major ASEAN ports, such as Laem Chabang in Thailand. This development fully leverages the benefits of tariff reductions and trade facilitation policies, effectively creating a "maritime expressway" for the flow of goods, including electronic products and specialty agricultural items.
