The Chairman of South Korea's SK Group, Chey Tae-won, stated on Monday that the global semiconductor wafer shortage, driven by artificial intelligence-fueled demand, may continue until 2030.
Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the Nvidia GTC conference in San Jose, California, Chey mentioned that SK Hynix is considering a U.S. listing of American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) to broaden its global investor base. Additionally, SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-Jung is expected to announce plans aimed at stabilizing DRAM chip prices. The group is also exploring alternative energy sources.
