Last night (the 10th), the nuclear island of the fourth unit at the China General Nuclear Power Group's (CGN) Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant began its first concrete pour. This marks the first Hualong One nuclear power project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This milestone follows the operational commencement of the plant's Unit 1 and the fuel loading of Unit 2, signaling the full-scale construction phase of the Taipingling Nuclear Power Phase II project.

The newly launched Taipingling Nuclear Power Unit 4 utilizes China's independently developed third-generation nuclear power technology, Hualong One, which boasts complete intellectual property rights. With a single-unit rated capacity of 1209 megawatts, the technology demonstrates advanced maturity and a high level of domestic control, positioning it among global leaders.

According to plans, the Taipingling Nuclear Power Project is designed to construct six Hualong One nuclear power units across three phases. Upon full completion and operation, the project is expected to generate approximately 55 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually. This will provide a stable, green, and low-carbon energy supply to the Greater Bay Area, significantly supporting the optimization of the regional energy structure and promoting high-quality, green, and low-carbon development.
