Qingdao Community Gets Dedicated Bicycles to Facilitate Last-Mile Delivery Services

On September 26, residents of Hongshi Yaju community in Shibei District discovered five new uniformly-branded bicycles neatly parked in their residential complex. These bikes are specifically designated as "community-exclusive vehicles" for delivery riders.

The challenge of "electric bikes cannot enter, walking is too far" has long troubled delivery riders working in large residential communities. To address this issue, under the guidance of Shibei District Committee's Social Work Department, KE Holdings Inc.'s rider station partnered with Shuangshan Street Office to launch the "KE Holdings Rider Station Warm New Bicycle" public welfare project. This initiative provides lightweight and flexible transportation to help riders efficiently complete the "last 500 meters" of delivery, building a bridge of warmth between communities and delivery workers.

**Bicycles Solve "Last 500 Meters" Delivery Challenge**

On the morning of September 26, a heartwarming bicycle handover ceremony was held at the KE Holdings Hongshi Yaju rider station. Five bicycles bearing the inscription "Journey Together, Warming the Island City" were arranged in order, thoughtfully equipped with air pumps and repair tool kits.

After the brief ceremony, Zhao Yang, General Manager of KE Holdings Qingdao and initiator of the KE Holdings rider station public welfare project, completed the vehicle handover together with Yang Lulu, Party Committee Secretary of Shuangshan Community.

Following the handover ceremony, riders eagerly test-rode the bicycles. Rider Master Zhuang, who frequently delivers to Hongshi Yaju, said after a test ride: "These bikes are excellent—lightweight and easy to ride. You can dismount with just a step, and the speed is appropriate for short distances within the community. Previously, walking to the farthest building took at least 10 minutes, but just now I experienced it taking only 3-5 minutes. This really helps us tremendously!"

To better assist riders with community deliveries, KE Holdings Qingdao recruited four volunteer helpers. Wang Shuang, Director of Shuangshan Street Office, and Deputy Director Li Lu presented sashes to volunteer representatives on-site. Additionally, KE Holdings Qingdao provided reflective strips for riders' electric bikes and stocked the station with bread, energy bars, fruits, and drinking water. Bright Dairy also joined the warming initiative, providing fresh milk and yogurt for riders, offering genuine care and respect from travel safety to energy replenishment.

**From "Delivery Personnel" to "Community Members"**

Beyond hardware support, the "Golden Autumn Warmth, Riding Convenience" series of activities included diverse interactive segments to help riders integrate into communities, transforming from familiar "strangers" into warm "community neighbors."

At the KE Holdings Mingze Huiyuan store, a "Mid-Autumn Moon Cake Making" activity attracted numerous residents and riders. Community residents and riders paired up to handcraft moon cakes together. Through kneading dough, filling, and molding in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, they found more opportunities for mutual exchange.

At the KE Holdings Shanhaiwn store, volunteer groups consisting of "1 real estate agent + 1 delivery worker" took on the free service of proactively "receiving water at doorsteps and delivering water to homes" for elderly community residents.

"My partner and I are mainly responsible for three or four buildings in this area. Previously, I would just deliver and leave, but now through these interactions, I feel closer to residents. Some elderly ladies even ask if I want tea, which warms my heart and gives me a sense of belonging," said one delivery worker at the event.

Zhao Yang also stated that the joint volunteer team of "real estate agents + delivery workers" is not a one-time service. "We will establish a long-term mechanism in the community, conducting 1-2 volunteer services monthly, such as visiting elderly residents, teaching them to use smartphones, promoting fall prevention knowledge, and participating in environmental cleaning, making this volunteer team a new force in community services."

**Small Station, Big Impact**

Years of deep community cultivation have given KE Holdings deeper insights into neighborhood warmth and needs. Therefore, KE Holdings is committed to transforming every partner brand store into a warm "urban supply station," encouraging agents to serve as volunteers through daily convenience services, community co-construction, and public welfare activities to establish high-frequency connections with communities and grow together.

The KE Holdings Hongshi Yaju store is one of over 100 "rider stations" operated by KE Holdings Qingdao. Since beginning operations in July this year, it has continuously provided free services including rest, charging, drinking water, meal heating, internet access, and printing for riders, becoming a "heartwarming refueling station" as riders traverse the city.

This bicycle donation activity represents a service upgrade and is a first among all KE Holdings national stations, demonstrating KE Holdings Qingdao's deep implementation of the "community-friendly" concept.

"Stores distributed throughout the city are not only spaces providing real estate services but also bridges connecting communities and serving residents. Currently, we have upgraded over 100 partner brand stores into dual spaces combining rider stations and community services, fully creating a 15-minute heartwarming service circle.
