Shanghai's Yangpu District Pingliang Road neighborhood recently partnered with ATRenew to launch the "One Square Meter" volunteer service program—a community trade-in recycling event held across 15 residential complexes including Wujin Building, Huipu Building, and Fangsan Community. The initiative sparked a wave of environmental enthusiasm among residents.

At the event, leveraging ATRenew's smart recycling machines, staff members served as environmental educators, explaining waste sorting principles and demonstrating the machines' user-friendly operation. Residents can now conveniently deposit mixed recyclables like cardboard, clothing, and plastic bottles anytime into the 24/7 smart machines, which automatically weigh items and provide instant compensation—seamlessly integrating sustainability into daily life.

Participants actively brought accumulated recyclables such as old cartons and clothing to collection points, where staff provided detailed guidance on item valuation and environmental impact. A project leader from ATRenew remarked: "The event's success demonstrates strong public support for environmental causes. This platform helps residents experience firsthand how eco-friendly actions positively impact lives while fostering green habits."

To ensure transparency, the "One Square Meter" program will regularly update participants via WeChat groups and public platforms about donated materials' distribution and recipient feedback. Evolving from simple item exchanges to establishing neighborhood volunteer teams, the initiative not only solves minor household challenges but also embeds community service into everyday life, keeping warmth within reach for all residents.
