On August 23, two slope collapses occurred in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, leaving four people missing. The Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV geological disaster defense response for Yunnan at 14:00 on the same day and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.
In response to the incident, the Ministry of Natural Resources has instructed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately dispatch an expert working group to the scene. This team is tasked with providing technical support for personnel search and rescue operations, as well as ensuring safety during emergency response efforts. Additionally, the department is required to conduct thorough geological disaster inspections, monitoring, and early warning measures in similar high-risk areas to prevent further incidents.
The China Geological Survey and the Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources have been directed to strengthen expert coordination, organizational support, and joint consultations. These efforts aim to provide comprehensive technical assistance and guidance to support the ongoing rescue and mitigation work at the disaster site.
