At today's 2025 Made by Google launch event, Alphabet's Market Vice President Adrienne Lofton announced that the "green bubble vs blue bubble" messaging color controversy has come to an end. She emphasized that with Apple's official support for RCS (Rich Communication Services) in iOS 18 last year, messaging experiences across different phone brands are becoming unified, freeing users from limitations like blurry images or missing features.

During the 2025 Made by Google event, Alphabet unveiled the Pixel 10 series smartphones and Pixel Watch 4 smartwatch, while also highlighting new breakthroughs in AI and communication experiences. At the event, Lofton explained the current adoption status of RCS during her conversation with host Jimmy Fallon.

Lofton described RCS as a unified messaging standard that delivers high-definition images, rich emoji expressions, and complete group chat experiences. She specifically noted that Android has long supported RCS, while Apple joined this standard starting with iOS 18, making cross-platform communication more seamless.

Lofton stated bluntly that the debate surrounding "green bubbles versus blue bubbles" over the past few years has become "boring and outdated." With Apple's adoption of RCS, message content and interaction methods are no longer constrained by device brands. Regardless of which phone users carry, Alphabet is committed to connecting everyone through technology.

Although RCS messages on Apple devices still appear as green bubbles while iMessage remains blue, Lofton emphasized that color itself is no longer a barrier.
