YOFC Shares Surge Over 17% as Fiber Price Hikes Gain Industry Traction Following Supplier Guidance Boost

Shares of YOFC (HKEX: 06869) surged more than 17%. At the time of writing, the stock was up 17.63% to HK$256.2, with a turnover of HK$2.995 billion.

This movement follows reports that fiber optic supplier Fujikura, impacted by surging demand from North American AI data centers and constrained by slow capacity expansion, has decided to raise prices for DCI interconnect cables by 30% and has significantly upgraded its performance guidance, leading to a substantial rise in its own stock price.

Similarly, Corning is reportedly facing delivery pressure and plans to expand production capacity for fiber dedicated to Nvidia.

Analysis from Kaiyuan Securities suggests the current shortage in fiber optic supply may persist, and price increases could become a widespread consensus within the industry.

Huaxin Securities previously noted that since January this year, fiber preforms have been in continuous short supply, with global production capacity nearing full utilization.

YOFC has held the top global market share in fiber preforms, optical fiber, and optical cables for nine consecutive years from 2016 to the present, positioning the company to potentially benefit significantly from the upward cycle driven by a reversal in supply and demand dynamics.
