Apple Developing Upgraded HomePod mini with Potential S11 Chip Integration

Apple is currently developing an upgraded version of the HomePod mini, which will feature an enhanced processor based on the S-series chips used in Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and the upcoming Apple Watch Series 11.

A HomePod mini equipped with a T8310 microarchitecture chip has been discovered in Apple's code. The device carries the codename B525, which likely corresponds to the next-generation HomePod mini, as the current model uses the codename B520.

Both the S9 and S10 chips in Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Series 10 utilize the T8310 core, and it is anticipated that the S11 chip in Apple Watch Series 11 will employ the same technology.

The current HomePod mini is powered by the S5 chip, which was originally developed for the Apple Watch. Since the code references the T8310 processor, which is used by S9, S10, and S11 chips, it remains unclear whether Apple will designate this chip as S9, S10, or S11 for the HomePod mini.

Given that the HomePod mini is expected to launch by the end of 2025, it would be logical for Apple to equip it with the S11 chip, which will also be used in the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3.

The chip expected to power the HomePod mini 2 will be significantly faster than the S5, featuring an A16-based 64-bit dual-core processor and a 4-core Neural Engine.
