Samsonite shares surge over 7% in morning trade as company plans $178 million acquisition of 85% stake in BÉIS parent

Samsonite International SA (HKEX: 01910) shares jumped more than 7% in early trading, with the stock last up 6.85% at HK$14.50, on trading volume of HK$46.42 million.

According to a company announcement, Samsonite stated that its subsidiary intends to acquire 85% of the outstanding membership interests in Beis for a cash consideration of US$178 million, with the transaction currently expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Public information shows that Beis owns the lifestyle and travel brand BÉIS, which was founded in 2018 by actress and entrepreneur Shay Mitchell. Samsonite noted that BÉIS is a digitally native brand with over 1.4 million followers on Instagram and more than 619,000 followers on TikTok, with the lifestyle luggage category accounting for approximately 50% of its net sales. The acquisition is expected to expand the group's travel and lifestyle product portfolio, strengthen its digital capabilities, and consolidate its growth momentum in North America.
