1.5GW! China State Construction, China Electric Power Construction, and China Energy Engineering Win EPC for Ningxia New Energy Base Project

On October 14, the Ningxia Electric Power Guo Neng Hong Si Bao New Energy Co., Ltd. announced the list of candidates for the EPC contract of the "Ning Xiang DC" supporting the Hong Si Bao 1.5 million kW new energy base project (Sections 7, 8, and 9). China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China Railway 11th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., and China Electric Power Construction Group East China Survey and Design Research Institute Company Limited were selected as the first candidates for the three sections, respectively.

The project, which was publicly tendered on September 4, is overseen by the New Energy Branch of the State Power Investment Corporation Ningxia Electric Power Co., Ltd. The EPC project consists of three sections with a total photovoltaic installed capacity of 479.68 MW, and the DC side has a capacity of 576.63 MWp.

The announcement indicates that the "Ning Xiang DC" supporting the Hong Si Bao 1.5 million kW new energy base project is located in the Hong Si Bao District of Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, covering an area of approximately 90,000 acres. The planned capacity for the photovoltaic field is 1000 MW, with the DC side installation at 1200 MWp and the AC side at 1000 MW. An additional wind power project is planned for the site with a capacity of 500 MW.

In the photovoltaic field, every 26 modules are connected in series to form one photovoltaic string, with 24 to 28 strings routed into an inverter of no less than 300 KW. Every 10 inverters connect to a 30 MVA transformer, while every 8 inverters connect to a 2.5 MVA transformer, and every 6 inverters connect to a 2.0 MVA transformer to boost the output AC voltage to 35 KV.

This project will construct two substations (110KV) and one (330KV) substation in collaboration with the planned 500 MW wind power project. Power will be fed into the Miaoling 750KV boosting station from the 330KV side via two 330V lines, along with a 10%/2h energy storage station being built as part of the project. The overall project design is based on the preliminary design of the interface version.
