US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has stated in an interview that he believes no one should publish the dot plot, a chart used by the Federal Reserve to signal interest rate projections.
He further remarked, "The only time I ever liked the dot plot was when I was running my own investment business. We had a trading model specifically designed to trade against the dot plot because it was always wrong."
Bessent expressed his approval of Federal Reserve Chair Wash's decision to discontinue forward guidance, a policy tool used to shape market expectations.
The Treasury Secretary also noted that he continues to have weekly breakfast meetings with Chair Wash, maintaining a tradition that was also in place during Jerome Powell's tenure as Fed Chair.
