French Finance Minister Roland Lescure stated on Wednesday in an interview with Franceinfo radio that France plans to convene a meeting of G7 finance ministers and central bank governors next week to discuss the situation in the Middle East.

He mentioned, "I have been in close contact with them over the past three days," a group which includes U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

"We have agreed to hold a meeting, most likely early next week," in order to have time to assess the evolution of the conflict and its impact on markets.

The meeting will serve as a platform to exchange views on the situation and potentially evaluate "necessary response measures."

A top priority is ensuring the transit of natural gas and fuel through the Strait of Hormuz.

There is no risk of oil or natural gas shortages in France in the coming weeks; electricity prices in France are expected to remain stable in the coming months.

The Middle East conflict may slightly dampen economic growth and lead to a modest increase in inflation.
