Samsung Electronics has commenced supplying advanced automotive chips for electric vehicles manufactured by BMW, marking a significant breakthrough in the company's efforts to expand its automotive components portfolio, according to informed sources.

Sources revealed that Samsung Electronics is providing the Exynos Auto V720 chip for BMW's new iX3 electric vehicle, positioning itself as a primary semiconductor partner for BMW's Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) initiative.

The new iX3 is a mid-size electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) built on BMW's advanced electric vehicle platform, "Neue Klasse." This model was launched in September and is scheduled to go on sale in South Korea during the second half of 2026.

According to sources, Samsung Electronics is also set to supply Exynos chips for other next-generation BMW electric vehicles.

The company reportedly plans to provide the Exynos Auto V920 processor for the upcoming next-generation BMW 7 Series model.

Samsung Electronics' Exynos Auto processor series powers in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, delivering navigation information and high-quality multimedia content.

Samsung Electronics had previously supplied Exynos processors to Audi in 2019 and Volkswagen in 2021, respectively.
