Muse Drives Meta's Market Value Skyward by Hundreds of Billions

Wall Street's prevailing sentiment is that Meta is on the verge of disrupting the enterprise technology sector with its new Muse AI agent. Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney noted in his latest report, "Much will continue to evolve, but the core straightforward takeaway is that Muse has become a breakout hit."

Meta's stock surged 11.3% on Monday to close at $741.25, boosting the company's market capitalization by $192 billion and increasing CEO Mark Zuckerberg's personal net worth by over $13 billion. The shares added another 1.4% in Tuesday trading. Investor enthusiasm has reached a fever pitch as Muse topped the Apple App Store charts.

Data from Sensor Tower indicates that Muse accumulated 2.8 million combined downloads across U.S. and Canadian app stores in its first 12 days. Furthermore, Muse's early adoption rate outpaces ChatGPT: Muse achieved 2.8 million downloads in its initial 12 days, compared to ChatGPT's 1.3 million during the same timeframe. On September 19, Muse set a new U.S. daily download record of 264,000, and it surpassed 200,000 daily downloads for three consecutive days.

Meta's Chief AI Officer, Alex Wang, posted on X: "Muse's objective is to bring AI to more everyday people." Mahaney explains that the most crucial factor driving Meta's share price surge is Muse's potential to unlock substantial profits that were previously difficult to estimate. If Muse can leverage the AI infrastructure boom to penetrate the lucrative enterprise market, the implications would be monumental.

The following is Mahaney's analysis, which represents Wall Street's most comprehensive interpretation of Muse as an emerging force: "The market is intensely focused on the enterprise AI space, perhaps even excessively so. The logic is understandable: businesses are willing to pay for productivity tools, but average consumers may not be, or at least that is the prevailing assumption. Anthropic has outright abandoned the consumer AI segment, even publicly criticizing one of the most vital monetization methods for consumers—advertising—during a Super Bowl ad. (The irony is palpable.) OpenAI has also followed suit by betting on the enterprise market, stating its goal to derive most of its revenue from corporate clients by the end of 2026.

It is precisely for this reason that among the major hyperscale cloud giants, Meta's price-to-earnings ratio has been assigned the lowest valuation by the market. The rationale is that Meta's massive AI investments previously lacked a clear path to an enterprise market opportunity like cloud computing. But now Muse has arrived, and early indicators suggest this product possesses the potential for large-scale explosive growth."

Muse's significance for Meta shareholders is multifaceted and can be distilled into three points: a) It concretely validates product innovation success and demonstrates a return on AI investments, proving that Meta's combined annual capital and operating expenditures exceeding $200 billion on AI have not been in vain; b) It signals the emergence of a powerful new growth engine for user engagement and time spent on the platform; c) Within a total addressable market worth trillions of dollars, Muse opens up numerous commercialization avenues, including advertising, subscription services, and transaction-based revenue sharing.
