According to informed sources, OpenAI has held discussions with Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase regarding their potential inclusion in the banking syndicate for its upcoming initial public offering. The creator of ChatGPT is preparing to launch what could become the largest IPO in history. The company has previously collaborated with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to draft IPO proposals. Sources indicated on Friday that the offering might take place later this year, with a confidential IPO filing expected to be submitted in the coming weeks. However, these negotiations do not guarantee that Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase will join Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in the preparation efforts. Other investment banks may also participate in the IPO process. Competitor Anthropic PBC has previously engaged in preliminary talks with various Wall Street banks about leading roles in its own IPO. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley are all reportedly under consideration. Separately, SpaceX is said to be assembling one of the largest underwriting syndicates in recent years for its forthcoming IPO. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citigroup are expected to act as joint lead underwriters, with an additional 16 banks participating in supportive roles across different regions and investor segments.
