Musk's Latest Promise: Tesla Roadster with "Flying" Capability to be Demonstrated by End of 2025

During a recent three-hour podcast with Joe Rogan, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced plans to showcase a new version of the next-generation Roadster by the end of 2025, hinting at its "flying" capability. Musk described the upcoming Roadster as "crazier than all James Bond cars combined," raising expectations for a "memorable" demonstration scheduled for late this year.

Tesla initially halted production of its first-generation Roadster in 2012 and unveiled the next-gen model in 2017, originally targeting a 2020 release. However, its launch has been repeatedly delayed.

The term "flying" remains ambiguous, with speculation pointing to two possible technological directions. Musk's claims have drawn skepticism, particularly from automotive media outlet Electrek, which argues that his description of "flying" differs significantly from public expectations of flying cars (such as eVTOLs capable of long-distance aerial travel). Critics note that current regulations and technology make it unlikely for a road-legal electric vehicle to achieve true flight.
