September 5th - OLED displays, which offer higher brightness and contrast compared to LCD screens and can present more vivid colors, have been widely adopted in smartphones and are increasingly being used in larger-screen devices such as tablets, laptops, and televisions, with shipment volumes continuing to grow year over year.

According to reports, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and LG Electronics, both of which have launched multiple OLED TV models, are experiencing continued growth in shipments and have raised their sales targets for this year.

Reports indicate that LG Electronics has increased its OLED TV sales target for this year from 3.3 million units to 3.5 million units, while Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has raised its target from 1.8 million units to 2 million units.

Market research institutions predict that the upward revision of OLED TV sales targets by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and LG Electronics will increase demand for OLED displays, benefiting LG Display.

LG Display stands to benefit from the raised OLED TV sales targets of both LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. because LG Display serves as a supplier to both major manufacturers. LG Display and LG Electronics both belong to the LG Group, with the former having long supplied displays to the latter.

Although Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has Samsung Display, a globally significant OLED display supplier under its umbrella, reports emerged in the first half of 2023 indicating that the company had reached an agreement with LG Display to procure OLED displays needed for televisions from the latter.
