Uber Technologies Inc. (UBER) saw its stock soar 5.04% during intraday trading on Tuesday, marking a significant surge for the ride-hailing giant.
The sharp increase follows an announcement regarding the expansion of the company's strategic partnership with chipmaker Nvidia. The two companies plan to launch a global fleet of autonomous vehicles, powered entirely by Nvidia's L4 software, starting in the first half of 2027.
The initial deployment is set to begin in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with plans to expand the robotaxi service to 28 cities worldwide by 2028. This move represents a major step in Uber's autonomous vehicle strategy and intensifies competition in the emerging autonomous ride-hailing sector.
