Anchoring the goal of surpassing a one-trillion-yuan economic aggregate, Shijiazhuang is concentrating on cultivating and expanding five hundred-billion-yuan industrial clusters: biomedicine, next-generation electronic information, advanced equipment manufacturing, modern food, and modern commerce and logistics.

In recent years, Shijiazhuang has continuously strengthened the leading and driving role of flagship enterprises, enhanced innovation empowerment, increased institutional supply, and improved the resilience of industrial chains, pushing its pillar industries toward new development and accelerating their rise.

Industrial clustering has taken full shape, with all five hundred-billion-yuan clusters now fully formed. In 2025, all five pillar industries in Shijiazhuang—including biomedicine and next-generation electronic information—surpassed the hundred-billion-yuan scale. In the first half of 2026, the biomedicine industry generated operating revenue of 69.39 billion yuan, up 11.5% year on year, while the next-generation electronic information industry recorded operating revenue of 82.5 billion yuan, up 15.4% year on year. The two strategic emerging industries led the city in growth, becoming the core engine driving industrial upgrading across Shijiazhuang.

On September 15, at the Shijiazhuang International Biomedicine Park, the first phase of the Huapu Biotech vaccine industrialization production base project, with a total investment of approximately 1.47 billion yuan, was under accelerated construction. "The project is expected to be completed and put into use in 2027. By then, it will have the capacity to produce tens of millions of vaccine doses annually," said Liu Guanghui, deputy general manager of Huapu Biotechnology (Hebei) Co., Ltd.

Since its completion in 2023, the Shijiazhuang International Biomedicine Park has gathered a number of flagship enterprises, including CSPC, Luye Pharma, and Huapu Biotech, with more than 300 companies having moved in. The growth and expansion of the Shijiazhuang International Biomedicine Park is a microcosm of the rising momentum of Shijiazhuang's five major industries.

A strong industrial base makes a strong city. Committed to strengthening its industries, Shijiazhuang adheres to chain-cluster development, park-based carrying capacity, digital-intelligent transformation, and project-based implementation, continuously enhancing the development momentum of pillar industries and bolstering the city's developmental backbone.

Project construction lays a solid foundation for industrial upgrading. Recently, at the Aerospace Information Industrial Park in Luquan District, Shijiazhuang, the main structure of the low-orbit satellite radio frequency payload industrialization base project was fully completed, with workers racing against time to advance interior decoration. "The project is expected to be completed and put into production in May 2027, when it will be able to produce approximately 5,000 sets of low-orbit satellite radio frequency payload products annually," said Li Zhe, deputy general manager of Shijiazhuang Ruichuang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.

In 2026, Shijiazhuang will implement 367 key construction projects with a total investment of 379.17 billion yuan and an expected annual investment of 57.61 billion yuan. From January to July this year, the 367 key construction projects completed an investment of 55.36 billion yuan, with an investment completion rate of 96.1%, demonstrating strong momentum for projects driving the development of the five major industries.

Innovation-driven development enhances momentum for industrial growth. At Jinghua Electronics, the latest small-pitch LED displays are being produced at full speed; at Yiran Biotechnology, digital-intelligent equipment operates in an orderly manner, with self-developed probiotic products reaching markets nationwide; at the Hebei Tsinghua Development Research Institute, expert teams are solving technical challenges for enterprises... From laboratory to production line, innovative vitality continues to burst forth.

At present, the city has more than 3,600 high-tech enterprises and 509 scientific and technological innovation platforms at or above the provincial level. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, total social research and development investment increased steadily year by year, with investment intensity exceeding the national average. The city's total number of high-value invention patents has reached 10,760, significantly enhancing innovation's support for industry.

Based on the development goal of a one-trillion-yuan economic aggregate, Shijiazhuang will adhere to the guidance of the five pillar industries, optimizing existing capacity, expanding incremental capacity, and improving quality, driving industry toward intelligent, green, and integrated development. It will vigorously implement the biomedicine revitalization project and the next-generation electronic information industry doubling action, building biomedicine and next-generation electronic information into strategic emerging pillar industries; push advanced equipment manufacturing toward intelligent development, enhance the quality and level of the modern food industry, build a nationally important central city for modern commerce and logistics, and continuously improve the comprehensive competitiveness of pillar industries.
