Two of the leading livestreaming hosts associated with Xinxuan have announced their departure. On June 9th, hosts Zhao Mengche and Shi Da Piaoliang (also known as "Pretty Big") confirmed they are leaving the organization.
In a statement posted on Weibo, Zhao Mengche indicated that his contracts with both Xinxuan and the short-video platform Kuaishou-W (HKEX: 1024) have been terminated. He further clarified that he will not appear as a host on any livestreaming platform outside of Xinxuan. Reflecting on his earnings, Zhao stated, "Over these years, calculated based on total GMV, the income that reached my hands did not exceed 1.85%."
Additionally, Zhao mentioned that the original product team for the brand "Shemao" will be handed over to Xinxuan's chairwoman, Chu Ruixue, and host Xu Jie. The trademark will be transferred to Xu Jie in the short term. In April of this year, host Xu Jie formally became a disciple of Xinxuan founder Xin Ba, changing her name to "Xu Jie" as part of the initiation. For the recent major "618" shopping festival, Xu Jie was positioned as one of Xinxuan's core promotional hosts.
Shi Da Piaoliang announced his departure on the Kuaishou platform, stating that his seven-year contract had concluded and he has left Xinxuan. He has since updated his personal profile on Kuaishou and cleared all his videos and store products. In May, he posted a short video on Kuaishou hinting that he could no longer serve his fans.
Zhao Mengche and Shi Da Piaoliang have amassed significant followings on Kuaishou, with over 73 million and 46 million fans respectively. They were long-standing disciples of Xinxuan's founder, Xin Ba, and veteran hosts within the organization. Xin Ba himself announced his withdrawal from the livestreaming industry in August of last year, handing over management of the Xinxuan Group to his wife, Chu Ruixue. During several of Chu Ruixue's subsequent livestreams, both Zhao Mengche and Shi Da Piaoliang served as supporting hosts.
Public information shows that Shi Da Piaoliang primarily focused on selling beauty, cosmetics, and fashion brands. On Kuaishou's 2020 annual livestreaming sales ranking, he secured the seventh position with annual sales totaling approximately 3.339 billion yuan.
