Ford Recalls Over 500,000 Bronco SUVs Due to Engine Bay Wiring Fire Risk

Deep News

Ford announced on Thursday a recall covering 565,691 units of its 2021 through 2026 model year Ford Bronco and Bronco Raptor vehicles. The automaker estimates that about 1% of these vehicles have a wiring defect, though it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries linked to the issue.

The root cause is insufficient protection on the engine bay wiring harness, which can lead to exposed wires and short circuits. If a short occurs, drivers may notice smoke coming from the air conditioning vents, see a warning light on the dashboard, and subsequently observe flames on the passenger side of the engine compartment.

The repair plan involves owners taking their vehicles to a dealership for a free installation of a new protective cover for the wiring harness.
