During Byd's intelligent strategy launch event today, Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu delivered a keynote address. He stated that the first half of vehicle electrification focuses on batteries, while the second half of intelligence centers on chips. Byd began developing chips even before manufacturing vehicles, establishing its IC design department in 2002, which later evolved into Byd Semiconductor. The industry-wide experience of chip and battery shortages has reinforced Byd's commitment to in-house research and development. He highlighted that Byd is the only automaker globally with full-process, end-to-end chip manufacturing capabilities, encompassing product definition, architectural design, circuit design, layout design, wafer fabrication, packaging, and testing. Byd offers an extensive and comprehensive portfolio of over 2,000 chip products across five major application domains: smart vehicles, consumer electronics, home appliances, industrial equipment, and photovoltaic energy storage. As China's largest automotive-grade chip manufacturer, Byd provides 566 types of automotive-grade chips across 13 major categories, which are integrated into 46 automotive brands. Wang Chuanfu announced the official launch of Byd's 567th automotive-grade chip, the high-performance AI driving chip Xuanji A3. This chip, developed in-house by Byd using a 4nm process, is also China's first 4nm AI driving chip. The Xuanji A3 features a 16-core CPU, a bandwidth of 273 GB/s, and delivers a total vehicle computing power exceeding 2,100 TOPS (with three chips), supporting both L3 and L4 levels of autonomous driving.
