On the evening of September 13th, a national financial investigation program exposed irregularities in rural pollution control efforts across several regions.

Reports highlighted wastewater treatment projects in villages across Jiangsu and Shanxi provinces that were either operating without purpose, experiencing sewage backflow, or leaving multi-million-yuan facilities dormant. These projects, originally intended to benefit local residents, had instead become a source of daily inconvenience and frustration for the villagers.

Following the broadcast, late on the night of September 13th, the People's Government of Tongshan District, Xuzhou, issued an official statement. It confirmed that provincial and municipal authorities had placed a high priority on the issue.

Officials immediately directed and supervised the Tongshan District to establish a joint investigation team, comprising departments for ecological environment, water resources, and agriculture and rural affairs. This team has been tasked with launching a swift and thorough investigation along with rectification efforts.

By the evening of the 13th, staff had already arrived at the relevant sites in question to commence the investigation and corrective actions. In the future, the joint investigation team in Tongshan District will handle the matter based on their findings and will remain open to public supervision.
