Market data shows Bitcoin rose 4.8% in July and 25.2% in August, with September continuing in positive territory. If the month closes higher, it would mark only the second time in Bitcoin's history that it has recorded three consecutive monthly gains, with the first occurrence back in 2012. During July, August, and September of that year, Bitcoin advanced 41.0%, 6.4%, and 24.4%, respectively. Following those gains, October saw a 9.7% decline, but after bottoming at $10.17 on October 26, Bitcoin embarked on a sustained 165-day rally, surging over 2,000% to reach $230 by April 2013.

Analysts point out that the 2012 precedent offers only a single sample, which is too small to reliably project current market direction. However, the rarity of this pattern, the dramatic rally that followed in 2012, and Bitcoin's four-year market cycle still warrant attention. Some cyclical models suggest a bullish phase could emerge around October or November, though historical cycle patterns serve only as approximations rather than fixed calendar rules.

The current market structure differs significantly from 2012. Back then, Bitcoin saw thin trading volumes with prices around just $10, meaning a small number of buyers could easily move the market. Today, Bitcoin operates within a multi-trillion-dollar market, featuring broad institutional participation, deep liquidity across both spot and derivatives markets, and a wide array of strategies including options, futures, and basis trades. Market observers note that similar percentage gains are far more difficult to achieve in today's environment.

Therefore, while the three-month winning streak has drawn attention, whether the 2012 trajectory can be replicated remains an open question.
