National Finals of 2026 Humanoid Robot Competition Open with Over 200 Teams Participating

The national finals of the humanoid robot event at the 28th China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition (CRAIC) kicked off in Beijing on the afternoon of August 1st. More than 200 teams from prestigious universities, including Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Xi'an Jiaotong University, advanced to the finals.

The competition questions for this year's event are designed around real-world scenarios in industries such as manufacturing, home life, and healthcare. This marks two major breakthroughs: a shift from "simulation modeling" to "full-scale replication," and a transition from "single algorithm testing" to the "integration of the entire brain-cerebellum technology stack."

During the challenge rounds, the competition replicated industrial environments such as high-risk inspections, SMT production line loading and unloading, and auto parts sorting at a 1:1 scale for the first time. Robots must autonomously complete high-difficulty tasks like navigating L-shaped obstacles, climbing slopes, and ascending and descending stairs. Using a vision-language-action model toolchain, they also perform precision sorting tasks under real-world physical interference, fully testing their industrial-grade practical capabilities.

To address critical needs in public welfare, the ROBAN robot challenge focuses on gaps in healthcare services. It assesses robots' ability to make autonomous decisions in complex environments through tasks like timed reminders, smart navigation, and precise medication delivery. These events not only evaluate algorithms and hardware but also transform core corporate production line scenarios into assessment standards. This allows participants to achieve a key transition from lab prototypes to functional industrial robots in a 1:1 replicated environment, cultivating "frontline talent" with both technical and practical skills for the industry.

After the competition, the community will leverage the Beijing OpenLET sub-community, based in Shijingshan, to establish a comprehensive, full-cycle training mechanism integrating "curriculum systems, training bases, and talent certification." Selected top-tier talent will be granted access to the full dataset of real-world robots and model toolchains. This event is organized by the China Association for Mechatronics Technology and Application and the CRAIC Organizing Committee, with support from the Zhongguancun Science Park Shijingshan Park Management Committee and the Beijing Shijingshan District Science and Technology Commission. It is jointly hosted by entities including Leju Tongyan (Beijing) Robotics Technology Co., Ltd.
