At the 2026 China Motorcycle Chongqing Forum, Zhang Chaoyuan, the head of intelligent service products for Baidu Maps, delivered a keynote titled "A New Intelligent Journey for Riding." He emphasized that bringing maps from four wheels to two wheels is not simply a matter of adaptation. In terms of intelligence, navigation features rank among the top three user demands for two-wheeled vehicles.
He argued that if a smart two-wheeler lacks map navigation capabilities, it can hardly be considered genuinely intelligent. The Baidu Maps two-wheeler travel app currently supports dozens of mainstream manufacturers and is integrated into nearly a hundred vehicle models.
Today, Baidu Maps officially launched its motorcycle travel intelligent agent, which covers six core functions and five key scenarios. These include intelligent search, RAG-based Q&A, smart route planning, navigation to vague points of interest, memory features, and recommendation capabilities. Additionally, the latest version of the Baidu Maps app now supports direct projection to vehicle head units, allowing users to plan a route on the app and seamlessly transfer it to the bike's display.
"Cruise mode in intelligent driving is something everyone is familiar with, and today we are bringing that same feature to two-wheelers, so riders can truly get on and go," he explained. Traffic light countdowns and real-time road conditions are now shown on the central control screen.
He noted that last year, Baidu Maps unveiled its lane-level navigation for Android pre-installation at the motorcycle expo. Now, it is delivering a full suite of map capabilities on RTOS navigation systems. Whether it is location search, route planning, track-following navigation, or two-wheeler cruise mode, the platform now can offer fully functional maps on low-power, compact systems.
Baidu Maps continues to enhance the travel experience for two-wheeler users, aiming to work alongside manufacturers and partners to lead and define the future of two-wheeler navigation and mobility.
