This agreement will directly double Prysmian's optical fiber production capacity in the United States.

Molex, an electronic connector manufacturer under Koch Industries, has entered into a long-term data center cable supply agreement with Italian cable giant Prysmian (stock price up 1.79%), with a total potential value of up to $6.29 billion. Prysmian aims to expand its U.S. optical fiber capacity through this deal, while the company is also preparing for a U.S. stock market listing.

Prysmian stated that this ten-year, dedicated supply contract for data center optical fiber is just one in a series of agreements with various infrastructure service providers. The company estimates that, based on 2025 performance, the cumulative value of new orders from such partnerships could exceed 10 billion euros (approximately $11.44 billion) by 2035.

The agreement with Molex has a maximum potential value of 5.5 billion euros, including a 550 million euro advance payment. Prysmian indicated that this partnership will significantly increase its optical cable and fiber production capacity, effectively doubling its existing optical fiber output in the U.S. market.

By 2031, Prysmian plans to invest 1.25 billion euros to expand and upgrade optical fiber and cable production lines at its factories in the United States and Europe. This capacity expansion is expected to create over 1,000 new jobs, with 600 of those positions located in the United States.

The Italian company continues to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market, having previously established a copper rod production base in Texas. CEO Massimo Bataini mentioned late last year that this factory provides the company with a competitive advantage under U.S. tariff policies; he also revealed at the time that the company plans to list on the New York Stock Exchange.

Molex, part of the privately-held U.S. conglomerate Koch Industries, described the collaboration as a strategic capacity expansion to meet the globally rising demand for data center hardware.
