Mark your calendars for the 2026 Tsinghua Wudaokou Chief Economist Forum, scheduled to take place on September 19th. Themed "Review and Outlook on the Chinese and Global Economy: Global Rebalancing and International Monetary System Restructuring," the all-day event will run from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Main Building's Rear Hall on Tsinghua University's campus. The forum will be hosted with both on-site participation and full online streaming available.

Registration for on-site attendance at this year's forum officially opens today. On September 19th, twenty esteemed chief economists and top-tier scholars from both domestic and international institutions, including Justin Yifu Lin, Yu Yongding, Zhu Min, and Huang Yiping, will convene at Tsinghua Yuan to engage in in-depth discussions centered around "Global Rebalancing and International Monetary System Restructuring." The forum is an annual event organized by the Tsinghua Wudaokou School of Finance and hosted by the International Finance and Economic Research Center (CIFER), now in its sixth successful year. With a core focus on macroeconomic theory and policy, the forum regularly brings together internationally recognized chief economists and distinguished scholars to debate pressing issues concerning both the Chinese and global economies. Its mission is to establish a world-class platform that gathers global perspectives and fosters dialogue among academia, markets, and policymakers.

Forum Agenda

The day will commence with opening remarks from 8:30 to 9:00 AM, followed by the first panel discussion. The morning session begins with a roundtable on Macroeconomic Policy and Global Rebalancing, moderated by Ju Jiandong, Chair Professor at the Tsinghua Wudaokou School of Finance and Director of CIFER. Distinguished panelists include Justin Yifu Lin, Boya Chair Professor at Peking University and Dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics; Yu Yongding, Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Research Fellow at the Institute of World Economics and Politics; Li Daokui, Professor at Tsinghua University's School of Social Sciences and Director of the Institute for China Economic Thinking and Policy; and Li Xunlei, Chief Economist at Zhongtai International.

The second roundtable, focusing on the Chinese Economy and Global Rebalancing, will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, moderated by Shi Kang, Chair Professor at the Tsinghua Wudaokou School of Finance and Director of the Center for International Macroeconomic Policy. Speakers at this session include Liu Shijin, former Deputy Director of the Economic Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Liu Yuanchun, President and Deputy Party Secretary of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Lu Ting, Managing Director and Chief China Economist at Nomura Securities; and Xing Ziqiang, Chief China Economist at Morgan Stanley.

Following the lunch break, the third panel on International Monetary System Restructuring and Global Rebalancing will take place from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. Moderated by Qian Jun, Professor and Executive Dean at Fudan University's School of International Finance, the session will feature insights from Zhu Min, former Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund; Miao Yanliang, Senior Managing Director and Chief Economist at China International Capital Corporation (CICC); Zhu Haibin, Assistant Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority; and Guan Tao, Chief Economist at Huafu Securities.

The concluding roundtable, titled Domestic Rebalancing and Global Rebalancing, is scheduled from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. It will be moderated by Zhang Bin, Research Fellow and Deputy Director at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Confirmed panelists are Huang Yiping, Boya Distinguished Professor at Peking University and Dean of the National School of Development; Liu Shangxi, Member of the Economic Committee of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC; Wang Tao, Senior Research Advisor at UBS Investment Bank; and Wu Ge, Assistant President of the Yangtze River Securities and Chief Economist.
