IMC Rare Earths Ltd (IMC) shares plummeted 5.70% during intraday trading on Wednesday, marking a challenging debut on the NYSE American. The drop comes just hours after the company began trading under the ticker symbol "IMC," following its initial public offering priced at $5.00 per share.

The stock's decline reflects a cool reception from the market after the company priced its IPO of 4 million ordinary shares at $5.00 each, raising gross proceeds of $20 million. The offering, underwritten by Roberts & Ryan, Inc. and Revere Securities LLC, included a 45-day option for underwriters to purchase up to an additional 600,000 shares to cover over-allotments. Trading commenced on Wednesday morning, but selling pressure pushed the stock below its offering price.

IMC Rare Earths is a mineral exploration and development company focused on magnet rare earth elements in Brazil, with its principal asset being the Itarantim Project, an ionic adsorption clay rare earth deposit. The initial public offering was intended to fund the company's exploration and development activities.
