The disciplinary inspection and supervision authorities of Aba Prefecture in Sichuan Province announced on September 10 that Yang Jian, former Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Xiaojin County, has been expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office following an investigation into his severe violations of discipline and laws.

The investigation revealed that Yang Jian had abandoned his ideals and convictions, betrayed his original aspirations, resisted organizational scrutiny, and engaged in superstitious activities. He also disregarded the Central Eight-Point Regulations by accepting gifts and money in violation of regulations. Furthermore, he exploited his official position to seek benefits for others in project contracting and fund allocation, illegally accepting substantial sums of money.

Yang Jian's actions constituted severe breaches of political and integrity disciplines, amounting to serious job-related misconduct and suspected bribery crimes. Significantly, he did not restrain himself or stop his illegal activities after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, demonstrating a serious nature and adverse impact that necessitated stringent handling.

In accordance with relevant regulations including the Regulations on Disciplinary Actions of the Communist Party of China, the Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China, and the Law on Administrative Discipline for Public Officials, the Standing Committee of the Aba Prefecture Commission for Discipline Inspection, upon approval from the Prefecture Party Committee, decided to expel Yang Jian from the Party and dismiss him from public office. His qualifications as a representative to the 13th Party Congress of Xiaojin County were terminated, and all his illegal gains have been confiscated. His suspected criminal activities have been transferred to procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution, along with the involved assets.
