HUANENG POWER (00902) disclosed operational metrics showing its mainland power plants sold 99.049 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity during Q2 2025, marking a 1.44% year-on-year increase. For the first half of 2025, cumulative electricity sold reached 205.683 billion kWh, representing a 2.37% decline compared to the same period last year.

The average settlement price for H1 electricity sales stood at RMB 485.27 per megawatt-hour (MWh), contracting 2.69% year-on-year. Market-oriented transactions accounted for 84.64% of total electricity sales during the period, down 2.27 percentage points from 2024 levels.

This overall reduction in generation volume stems from the company's strategic shift toward green energy. While wind and solar capacity expansions drove renewable generation higher, coal-fired power output decreased significantly. This decline in thermal generation—attributed to abundant market supply and nationwide growth in renewable installations—offset gains from clean energy sources, resulting in the net decrease of electricity sold.
