Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM) jumped 5.09% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, reflecting a broad surge in the global memory chip sector.

The rally was driven by multiple positive catalysts. Counterpoint Research reported that YMTC surpassed Kioxia to become the world's third-largest NAND flash shipper in Q2, capturing 14% market share with shipment volume up 22% year-over-year. Additionally, SK Hynix recently tapped the credit bond market for $28 billion, underscoring robust cash generation in the memory industry. Institutions broadly view the current memory upcycle as an AI-driven structural shift rather than a traditional short-cycle fluctuation.

Further boosting sentiment, reports emerged that Singapore's Temasek is planning to invest directly in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, considering AI memory semiconductors undervalued. Both Korean chip giants rallied over 7% during Asian trading, fueled by expectations of strong AI data center demand for high-performance memory and SK Hynix’s capacity expansion plans in China.
