On March 31, BYD Company Limited officially launched its 5,000th flash charging station at the Qinglan Expressway service area in Lanzhou, Gansu province, marking a significant milestone in the company’s “Flash Charging China” strategy.

Located at the intersection of the Qinglan Expressway and the Lianhuo Expressway in Gansu, the service area serves as a critical transportation hub connecting central and western China. The activation of this station will further enhance the expressway charging network in these regions, offering greater convenience for cross-regional travel. Simultaneously, flash charging stations in expressway service areas across multiple provinces—including Nanjing in Jiangsu, Tangshan in Hebei, and Haikou in Hainan—have also begun operations, expanding the nationwide network and deepening the electric mobility infrastructure.

Since the “Flash Charging China” strategy was announced on March 5, BYD has rapidly advanced the construction of flash charging stations, achieving broad coverage from core urban centers to major transport corridors. To date, BYD’s flash charging network spans 297 cities across the country, effectively addressing common concerns among new energy vehicle owners during peak travel periods—such as difficulty finding available charging points, long queues, and slow charging speeds—thereby improving the convenience and comfort of long-distance journeys.

Previously, BYD announced plans to build 20,000 flash charging stations nationwide by the end of 2026, enabling more flexible and convenient charging for users. Notably, owners of vehicles equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery will enjoy one year of free flash charging at all stations nationwide. Combined with the breakthrough charging performance of BYD’s flash charging technology—which offers “five minutes for a quick charge, nine minutes for a full charge, and only three minutes extra even at -30°C”—the initiative aims to eliminate user concerns about charging accessibility.

The launch of the 5,000th flash charging station, along with the first batch of expressway sites, underscores BYD’s commitment to its “Flash Charging China” strategy. It also reflects the company’s ongoing dedication to advancing new energy mobility services and fulfilling its social responsibilities. Moving forward, as the flash charging network continues to expand, BYD aims to further lower the barriers to new energy vehicle adoption, support the widespread use of electric vehicles, and contribute significantly to China’s energy transition and the development of green transportation.
