Sichuan has rolled out new regulations on elderly care services, bringing a range of benefits for its residents.
If someone is bedridden and unwell, can their children take leave to care for them? If an elderly person does not want to go to a nursing home, who will look after them at home? For the aunts and uncles in Sichuan, our elderly care issues now have new legal protections.
This December, the Sichuan Province Elderly Care Service Regulations will officially take effect. Sichuan has stipulated a leave policy for children caring for their parents. If parents are hospitalized and unable to care for themselves due to illness, their children can apply to their employer for leave. For only-child families, up to 15 days per year can be requested, while for non-only-child families, up to 7 days per year can be requested.
Some aunts and uncles do not want to live in nursing homes, always feeling that their own home is much more comfortable. But what if there are no children at home to care for them? In the future, the government will purchase services to set up home-based elderly care beds, with elderly care institutions providing services directly to the doorstep, allowing aunts and uncles to enjoy professional services such as care and remote monitoring from elderly care institutions right at home. If they do not want to go to a nursing home, there is another option: just like ordering takeout, they can place an order and elderly care services will come directly to their home.
What other tangible benefits are there? The policy translator will help you go through them one by one.
