Guiyang Airport Sees 2.79 Million Passengers Since Summer Season Begins, Up 6.93% Year-on-Year

As of August 3, Guiyang Airport has served a total of 2.789 million passengers during the current summer travel season, marking a 6.93% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Guizhou Aviation Group.

The airport has also recorded 18,597 flight takeoffs and landings, representing a 4.48% year-on-year growth. Daily passenger throughput first exceeded 80,000 on July 8, and has since surpassed that threshold 24 times.

Compared to the 2025 summer season, the 2026 summer season saw the milestone of 80,000 daily passengers reached 23 days earlier, with 18 additional days above that level. The daily passenger throughput record has been broken nine times so far this season. On August 1, the airport handled 89,546 passengers and 591 flight movements, setting a new all-time single-day high.

To meet diverse travel needs, Guiyang Airport has increased flight frequencies on popular routes. Daily scheduled flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Ningbo now average more than 10 per day. Wide-body aircraft have been deployed on several domestic trunk routes, including those to Beijing and Shanghai, to boost capacity.

On the international and regional front, the airport is currently operating four international and regional routes during the summer season, offering travelers more options for outbound trips. As of August 3, the airport has handled 5,921 unaccompanied minor passengers, a 26.16% increase from 2025 levels. The average daily number is 174, up 27.94% year-on-year. The peak day was July 14, with 410 unaccompanied minors processed, a 20.23% increase over the 2025 peak.
