On April 5, as the spring break for primary and secondary schools in several provinces coincided with the Qingming Festival holiday, Shanghai Disney Resort witnessed a significant surge in visitor numbers. The influx began early in the morning, with guests arriving via the Disney subway station immediately joining a lengthy queue that stretched around the resort’s lake. The walk to the security checkpoint alone took approximately half an hour.

Despite efforts by some visitors to arrive early to avoid the crowds, the park remained exceptionally busy. Many families, with young children making up a large portion of the visitors, were seen navigating the queues with strollers. International tourists were also among those enjoying the park's offerings.

While waiting in line, guests found various ways to pass the time—chatting with friends, taking photos, applying makeup, or, in one case, a visitor from Wuhan styling her younger sister’s hair. Some opted for a different strategy, choosing to shop at the Disney World Store first before entering the park later to avoid the peak security screening times.

Once inside, the waiting continued. By 11:28 AM, wait times for popular attractions had soared. According to the resort’s official app, the "Meet Linabell" experience required a 380-minute wait, while "Zootopia: Hot Pursuit" had a 140-minute line. The "Soaring Over the Horizon" ride also exceeded a two-hour wait.

This peak travel period is largely driven by an extended holiday break for students in over ten provinces—including Zhejiang, Sichuan, Jiangsu, and Anhui—where the spring break has been scheduled alongside the Qingming Festival, creating a six-day continuous holiday in some areas. In other regions, the break connects with weekends or the upcoming Labor Day holiday, allowing for up to eight days off.
