During the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC), held from September 22 to 24 in Haikou, Hainan, BMW Group Board Member Jochen Goller highlighted in his speech that China is one of the world's most dynamic markets and a frontrunner in new energy vehicle development, with its industrial achievements drawing significant attention.

Mr. Goller pointed out that China is at the global forefront in critical areas like autonomous driving and power batteries. The penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the country has already surpassed 60%, product innovation is accelerating at a rapid pace, and consumers today enjoy an unprecedented array of choices.

However, he also acknowledged that the swift transformation brings structural challenges. Amid intense market competition, the industry faces mounting profitability pressures, and business models are continuously being tested by market forces. Combined with global economic uncertainties, consumers are placing greater emphasis on product value.

Mr. Goller noted that BMW Group has navigated multiple economic cycles and industrial shifts, and holds deep respect for the vitality and potential of the Chinese market. In a fiercely competitive landscape, long-term success is built on sustained effort, with the core lying in maintaining robust financial resilience, consistently improving efficiency, upholding strict safety standards, and advancing the green transition with a global perspective.

"These capabilities are the foundation for a company to traverse economic cycles and continuously create value, and they also serve as the cornerstone of BMW's future strategy. Despite the numerous challenges, we remain firmly optimistic about the Chinese market," he said. "This confidence is underpinned by our competitive product portfolio, the world-class production base in Shenyang, and the long-term, mutually trusting partnerships we have cultivated with our Chinese counterparts."

He further explained that BMW has, to date, established a resilient supply chain network with more than 480 tier-one suppliers and approximately 7,000 supplier partners, solidifying its competitive edge and laying a strong groundwork for future development.
