The Direxion Daily MU Bull 2X Shares (MUU) experienced a sharp pre-market plunge of 7.29% on Thursday. The leveraged exchange-traded fund, which seeks to deliver twice the daily performance of Micron Technology Inc., mirrored and amplified significant weakness in its underlying asset during the early trading session.

The decline was driven by multiple converging headwinds for the memory chip sector. Major concerns include substantial expansion plans announced by competitors Samsung and SK Hynix, which analysts fear could lead to a significant DRAM supply oversupply in the coming years. Furthermore, Micron, along with its Korean rivals, is facing a class-action lawsuit filed in U.S. federal court alleging collusion to manipulate DRAM prices, reviving memories of past antitrust convictions and intensifying legal risk anxiety among investors.

These specific negative catalysts were compounded by a broader market rotation, where investors engaged in profit-taking across the semiconductor sector following exceptional gains earlier in the year. This combination of sector-wide selling pressure and Micron-specific fundamental and legal challenges led to a pronounced sell-off, which was magnified by the ETF's 2x leverage mechanism.
