On September 24, Hong Kong dollar interbank offered rates (HIBOR) saw a universal uptick, with the one-month rate—closely linked to mortgage pricing—rising by 7.120 basis points to 2.95691%. This marks the second consecutive day of gains for this tenor, pushing it to its highest level in over two months.
The three-month rate, a key gauge of bank funding costs, advanced by 8.863 basis points to 3.20429%. Overnight rates also climbed sharply, adding 37.334 basis points to settle at 2.71667%. Meanwhile, the one-week rate jumped by 70.315 basis points to 3.12345%, and the two-week rate increased by 19.691 basis points to 3.01286%.
Moving to longer tenors, the two-month rate edged up by 2.869 basis points to 3.07089%. The six-month rate gained 2.274 basis points to 3.50000%, while the one-year rate rose by 3.530 basis points to 3.94363%, reflecting a broad rise across the yield curve.
