According to the CME Group's FedWatch tool, the probability of the Federal Reserve maintaining its current interest rate in September stands at 28.8%, while the likelihood of a cumulative 25-basis-point rate hike is 71.3%.
For October, the tool indicates a 17.6% chance of the Fed holding rates steady. Meanwhile, the probability of a cumulative 25-basis-point increase is 54.8%, and the likelihood of a total 50-basis-point hike is 27.6%.
