Shares of Chaozhou Three-Circle (Group) Co., Ltd. (06951.HK) jumped more than 9% during intraday trading, reaching a high of HK$152.70. As of the time of writing, the gains have narrowed, with the stock price up 2.37% at HK$142.50, and turnover amounting to HK$141 million.
According to CCTV Finance, the MLCC spot market entered a frenzied state in June, with prices changing "daily, or even hourly." Some popular models saw price increases of 7 to 8 times within just one month, with the highest spot prices being bid up to 2 to 10 times their original levels.
The latest wave of price hikes was first ignited by overseas industry leaders. Japan's Murata and Taiyo Yuden, along with South Korea's Samsung Electro-Mechanics, have all issued price increase notices. Price increases for high-capacity MLCCs used in AI servers from original manufacturers generally range from 15% to 35%.
In the first half of this year, the company achieved revenue of RMB 6.423 billion, a year-on-year increase of 54.82%, with net profit attributable to shareholders reaching RMB 1.932 billion, up 56.18% year-on-year. According to the company's semi-annual report, MLCC benefited from improved customer recognition and industry prosperity during the first half, with prices for certain specifications being restored to their original reasonable values, and both sales volume and revenue showing significant year-on-year growth.
