Zhejiang Jianfeng Group Co.,Ltd. (SH: 600668) has announced that its subsidiary has obtained official approval for the market entry of a key pharmaceutical raw material.

According to the company's recent disclosure, Anhui Jianfeng Beika Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the group, has received the "Chemical Raw Material Drug Marketing Authorization Approval Notice" (Notice No. 2026YS00812) from China's National Medical Products Administration for the active pharmaceutical ingredient Methyldopa.

Methyldopa, originally developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) and approved by the U.S. FDA in 1962, stands as the world's first-generation centrally acting antihypertensive agent. As a prodrug, it crosses the blood-brain barrier after oral absorption and is metabolized centrally into alpha-methylnorepinephrine, a false neurotransmitter. This metabolite stimulates alpha-2 adrenergic receptors in the brainstem, suppresses sympathetic outflow, and reduces peripheral vascular resistance to achieve blood pressure reduction. The drug remains a classic first-line therapeutic option for hypertension during pregnancy.

This approval marks a significant regulatory milestone for the subsidiary, positioning it to contribute to the production and supply of this established therapeutic compound.
