Hubei Province has optimized and adjusted its 2026 trade-in subsidy policy by adding new product categories for consumer goods, with the new rules officially taking effect on October 1, 2026, according to Yichang Fabu.
The adjustment aims to implement requirements set by the Ministry of Commerce and seven other departments regarding accelerating the development of "AI plus consumption," further unlock the consumption potential of smart terminal products across the province, promote deep integration of artificial intelligence and consumption, and enhance residents' quality of life at home.
Built on the original 2026 Hubei Province Trade-In Subsidy Work Plan for Newly Added Product Categories, this adjustment keeps the total number of subsidized categories unchanged at 10, while all other policy requirements including subsidy application procedures and review rules remain the same. Only the scope of subsidized categories has been restructured and optimized.
Under the changes, smart speakers, smart air purifiers, and ventilators (including oxygen concentrators) have been removed from the original subsidy list. Some categories have been split and reorganized: robot vacuum-mop combos and window-cleaning robots, previously grouped under smart service robots, are now established as a separate "smart cleaning equipment" category; smart dishwashers have been upgraded and expanded into "smart kitchen appliances," with smart sterilization cabinets newly added to the subsidy scope. Meanwhile, the definition of smart service robots has been broadened to include embodied robots, cooking robots, exoskeleton robots, and companion robots/robot dogs.
Notably, three major new subsidy categories have been introduced: digital cameras (including action cameras and drones), elderly-friendly products (including blood pressure monitors and blood glucose meters), and smart home products (including smart massage chairs, smart sofas, smart beds, and smart mattresses). Smart earphones and smart door locks will retain their subsidy eligibility, while the descriptions for smart range hoods and smart toilet-related categories have been refined and slightly adjusted.
This category adjustment closely follows the "AI plus consumption" development direction, directing subsidy focus toward emerging consumption areas such as cutting-edge digital products, whole-home intelligence, and embodied robots, better aligning with residents' current diverse and quality-oriented consumption needs.
According to the Hubei Provincial Department of Commerce, this category optimization focuses on new smart consumption and elderly-friendly health and wellness consumption, further enriching trade-in subsidy scenarios, continuously activating the province's smart terminal consumer market, and helping upgrade consumption quality.
Regarding the participation process, consumers must complete real-name authentication to obtain coupons. Specifically, they can search for and log into the WeChat mini-program "Hubei Province Consumer Goods Trade-In Public Service Platform," complete real-name authentication, enter the "Smart Home Subsidy Zone," and claim the corresponding subsidy qualification coupons as needed. If the national government issues new requirements or Hubei Province introduces new plans, the latest policy requirements will apply. The campaign runs until December 31, 2026.
