As of August 31, 2026, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) has disclosed the latest statistics on the cash market and IPO filings. At the start of this year, the total number of listed companies on the Main Board and the GEM (Growth Enterprise Market) stood at 2,686. During the reporting period, 106 new companies went public, with 104 joining the Main Board and only 2 on the GEM.

In terms of market churn, there were 31 delistings during the year, comprising 23 from the Main Board and 8 from the GEM. By the end of August, the total number of listed companies in Hong Kong reached 2,761, broken down into 2,455 on the Main Board and 306 on the GEM.

Turning to the IPO application pipeline, the exchange processed a total of 866 listing submissions as of the reporting date for 2026. This figure comprises 816 for the Main Board, 17 for the GEM, and 33 under other categories. Of these, 379 were carried forward from the end of 2025 as pending, while 487 new applications were formally accepted during 2026.

Breaking down the status of these applications, 135 have successfully completed their listings—104 on the Main Board, 2 on the GEM, and 29 in other categories. Another 23 have received approval from the Listing Committee but are still awaiting their actual debut. A significant 511 applications are currently under active processing, with 501 on the Main Board and 9 on the GEM.

Additionally, 197 applications fall under other statuses, which include instances where the application period has expired, requests have been rejected or returned, or enterprises have voluntarily withdrawn their submissions.
