During the 2026 Headquarters Economy Conference and the 6th Building Economy and Urban High-Quality Development Forum, held as an official CIFTIS-themed event in Beijing on September 11, representatives from the aviation sector shared insights on innovative service integration. Chen Lie, Deputy General Manager of the Aviation Business Department and International Affairs Department at Beijing Capital International Airport Co., Ltd., presented the company's practices during the forum's promotional segment.

Chen Lie expressed gratitude for the invitation from the Beijing CBD Administrative Committee and highlighted the airport's commitment to its "China's First Gateway" positioning. He detailed the ongoing efforts to strengthen the Beijing Airport-CBD Service Center and innovate aviation-travel integrated services, emphasizing how the airport is leveraging its unique role to bridge air travel with urban commercial activities.

Launched in November last year, the Beijing Airport-CBD Service Center was established by the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, the CBD Administrative Committee, and the Capital Airports Group. This initiative serves as a direct link between the CBD area and Beijing's two airports, aiming to provide multinational regional headquarters and foreign enterprise personnel in the CBD with more convenient travel services and efficient customs clearance support. The three parties have implemented a rapid-response and communication coordination mechanism to promptly address corporate issues related to air travel and personnel immigration, effectively resolving the "last mile" of port services and enhancing Beijing's service reputation at the gateway.

The center's efficient operation relies on a robust aviation network. Since the start of this year's summer schedule, Beijing Capital International Airport has steadily improved its connectivity, with its route network now reaching 210 cities and 217 destinations across 57 countries. This includes 89 international and regional destinations and 52 intercontinental destinations, ranking first nationally. The airport has not only restored international routes to Delhi and Tehran but has also increased frequencies on key European and Asian routes such as Brussels, Istanbul, Dublin, Seoul, and Bangkok. Additionally, new routes to Venice, Bishkek, Bucharest, and Zagreb have been launched, further strengthening international connectivity and providing a solid foundation for cross-border business travel and global resource flows.

Leveraging the airport-CBD service center platform and responding to market changes and diverse passenger needs, the airport has introduced a series of initiatives focused on cross-border convenience, immersive experiences, and educational outreach. These include exclusive benefits for international boarding pass holders, a summer carnival, and youth aviation study programs, all designed to convert passenger traffic into urban consumption and growth opportunities.

On the inbound benefits front, the airport teamed up with the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau and the CBD Administrative Committee to launch a campaign offering exclusive CBD consumption perks for international ticket holders. The initiative received positive market feedback immediately. Currently, over 150 shops across eight commercial complexes in the CBD are participating, covering dining, fashion, hotels, and cinemas. The program has since been expanded to include Shunyi commercial districts, Sanlitun, and the National Base for International Cultural Trade, integrating shopping, cultural tourism, and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, thereby creating added value for inbound and transit travelers. Data shows that from January to July this year, Beijing welcomed 3.86 million inbound visitors, a 32.4% year-on-year increase, with tourism spending reaching $5.28 billion, up nearly 40%. As the international route network continues to expand, inbound travel to Beijing is expected to grow steadily. Looking ahead, the airport plans to upgrade transit products, introduce shuttle services to key commercial districts, and further enhance the overall travel experience, connecting the port with urban commercial hubs.

Targeting younger demographics and families, the airport collaborated with nearly 30 organizations, including the CBD Administrative Committee, resident domestic and foreign airlines, tourism boards, and online travel platforms, to host a summer carnival at Dongyue Cultural Square at the end of May. The event featured stage performances, an aviation-travel market, and themed cultural zones, complemented by stamp-collecting activities, interactive experiences, and lucky draws. Online platforms also offered flight and scenic spot discounts, creating a synergy that boosted aviation-travel consumption. The carnival proved highly effective, with participating units promoting the event through mainstream social media channels, thereby driving significant traffic, brand visibility, and consumer spending.

Responding to the Civil Aviation Administration's push for study tours, the airport utilized its premium aviation resources to launch study products for primary and secondary school students in partnership with its tourism subsidiary. This innovative "aviation-travel + education" model focuses on youth development, offering initial courses such as "Exploring Airport Operations" and "Little Firefighter." Through immersive sessions like observing the operations control center, touring historical exhibitions, and hands-on firefighting drills, the program transforms professional aviation knowledge into engaging, practical activities. The product has enhanced students' extracurricular experiences while fulfilling the airport's social responsibility in aviation science education, supporting the early cultivation of future aviation talent. Market response has been robust, with rising inquiries and enrollment, and the program now serves a diverse clientele including walk-in visitors, families, school groups, and institutional custom bookings.

These initiatives represent initial explorations in deepening airport-CBD collaboration and advancing aviation-travel integration.Beijing Capital International Airport expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present and welcomed further multi-dimensional partnerships to diversify airport scenarios. Looking forward, the airport will continue to strengthen the functions of the Beijing Airport-CBD Service Center platform, deepen coordination with the CBD, various commercial districts, and partner institutions, continuously optimize port services, and expand aviation-travel consumption scenarios. By doing so, it aims to facilitate the efficient flow of resources for headquarters enterprises and contribute to high-quality urban development through more considerate and premium gateway services.
