Xero Ltd's stock plummeted 5.19% during intraday trading on Thursday. The sharp decline followed the release of the company's fiscal year 2026 financial results.
The company reported that it swung to a loss of NZ$0.19 per share for the fiscal year 2026, a significant reversal from a profit of NZ$1.47 per share a year earlier. This result fell well short of analysts' expectations, who had forecast earnings of NZ$1.39 per share according to FactSet polls.
While Xero posted higher total operating revenue of NZ$2.75 billion compared to NZ$2.1 billion a year earlier, the unexpected loss appears to have driven negative investor sentiment. The company also provided forward guidance for fiscal year 2027, expecting operating revenue between NZ$3.62 billion and NZ$3.73 billion and adjusted EBITDA between NZ$860 million and NZ$920 million.
