ETF Surge: Baijiu ETF Climbs Nearly 5% As Sector Eyes Valuation Recovery

The E Fund Baijiu ETF (03189) surged nearly 5%, trading up 4.77% at HKD 1.23 with a turnover of HKD 919,700 as of press time. This rally comes amid reports that direct-sale stores in Beijing and Shanghai have raised the price of 53-degree, 500ml Feitian Moutai to 1,719 yuan per bottle, surpassing the 1,639 yuan price on the iMoutai platform.

Earlier on July 17, Kweichow Moutai announced a dual price hike for Feitian Moutai on the iMoutai platform, both for retail and contract sales. This marks the second price increase for Feitian Moutai on iMoutai this year, following the initial adjustment in late March.

According to Dongxing Securities, the baijiu sector's current low valuation offers downside protection, while its low weighting in broader indices provides style rotation flexibility, and dividends deliver holding returns. If the second half of the year brings marginal improvements in terminal demand, stabilization of baijiu wholesale prices, and progress in inventory reduction, the sector could enter a valuation recovery phase.

Public data shows that the E Fund Baijiu ETF tracks the CSI Baijiu Index, covering top-tier baijiu leaders such as Kweichow Moutai, Shanxi Fenjiu, Luzhou Laojiao, Wuliangye, and Yanghe. As the only baijiu-themed ETF currently listed on the Hong Kong market, it provides investors with a rare tool for one-click exposure to China's core baijiu assets.
