Southern Alliance Mining Ltd. (SAM) announced on Apr, 20 2026 that it has signed a non-binding collaboration agreement with Brazilian Critical Minerals (ASX: BCM) to assess joint opportunities in the development and distribution of rare earth element products.

The parties will exchange technical, operational and market information, study potential product offtake arrangements and consider partnership or joint-venture structures aimed at maximising the value of their respective assets in Malaysia and Brazil.

SAM owns a 40% stake in MCRE Resources Sdn Bhd, operator of the Gerik Mine in Ipoh, Malaysia, which has produced and sold about 20,280 tonnes of mixed rare earth carbonate as of Aug, 31 2025. BCM is advancing its 1-billion-tonne Ema ionic adsorption clay rare earth project in Brazil toward in-situ recovery production.

The companies will now work on a defined scope to quantify technical, commercial and logistical synergies before deciding on the terms of any binding agreement for future rare earth product sales.
